Edfu, Egypt Accommodation Recommendations: The Perfect Combination of Comfort and Convenience

Hanane16/04/202506/02/2025

I know very well that accommodation plays a crucial role in any trip. Especially when traveling to a destination like Egypt, choosing the right place to stay can not only make your journey more comfortable but also allow you to experience the local culture more deeply. Today, I’m excited to share with you some great hotel recommendations in Edfu, Egypt. These hotels not only provide a comfortable environment but also offer a chance to experience the authentic Egyptian atmosphere. Whether you’re here to explore ancient temples or simply want to relax in this peaceful town, these accommodation options will cater to your needs.

1. Edfu: A Destination Where History Meets Tranquility

Edfu is a charming town situated on the banks of the Nile River, and it is home to one of Egypt’s most famous and well-preserved ancient temples – the Temple of Horus. While it may not be as bustling as Cairo or Luxor, Edfu’s quiet atmosphere and historical significance make it a must-visit for any traveler interested in ancient Egyptian history. Given its historical landmarks, it’s essential to choose accommodations that offer convenience and comfort, ensuring you have a relaxing stay while exploring this fascinating area.

2. My Accommodation Choices in Edfu

On my recent trip to Edfu, I stayed at two wonderful hotels that perfectly matched my expectations in terms of location, service, and facilities. Both hotels provided great experiences, and I am excited to share my thoughts and recommendations with you.

2.1. Edfu Palace Hotel

Location: Edfu Palace Hotel is centrally located, just a 15-minute drive from the Temple of Horus. It is also within walking distance of some local shops and restaurants, making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing.

Hotel Services & Facilities:

  • The hotel offers free airport transfers, and the staff was friendly and professional. The private car ride from Luxor Airport to the hotel takes about 90 minutes, making it relatively easy to reach the hotel upon arrival.
  • There’s free Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel, and the connection is reliable – perfect for business travelers who need to stay connected.
  • My room was spacious and clean, equipped with air conditioning, a mini fridge, a television, and other essential amenities. The room faced a lovely garden, and I could hear the chirping of birds during the day and enjoy peaceful surroundings at night.

Price & Deals: I booked a three-night stay through an online travel platform during the off-season. The rate was around $90 per night. The hotel often runs discount promotions, so I recommend checking the hotel’s website for real-time prices and keeping an eye on special holiday deals.

Experience:

  • The breakfast was delicious and varied, offering traditional Egyptian dishes like fatta (a meat and rice dish), hummus, and more. I especially loved their freshly baked flatbreads with honey – they were absolutely divine.
  • The hotel has excellent facilities, including a swimming pool and a gym. After a long day of exploring the ancient temples, it was so relaxing to unwind by the pool.
  • The air conditioning in the room worked perfectly, ensuring a cool and comfortable environment, even during the hot Egyptian days in March.
  • There are several local restaurants nearby where you can try authentic Egyptian dishes, including fresh lamb and fish.

Hotel Booking Platforms:
I made my reservation through Agoda, which provides clear pricing and customer reviews. The platform made it easy to compare hotels and choose the best option, helping me make a confident decision.

2.2. Nile River Hotel

Location: The Nile River Hotel is situated in a prime location along the Nile River, offering beautiful river views. It’s about a 20-minute drive from the center of Edfu, making it another excellent option for travelers.

Hotel Services & Facilities:

  • The hotel’s restaurant serves both modern cuisine and traditional Egyptian dishes, giving guests a chance to try local flavors while enjoying contemporary dining options.
  • The rooms are equipped with a large flat-screen TV, free high-speed Wi-Fi, comfortable beds, and a private bathroom with a bathtub, which made my stay even more relaxing.
  • In addition to standard amenities, the hotel features a small recreational area with opportunities for hiking and fishing, making it perfect for outdoor enthusiasts.

Price & Deals: This hotel’s price is slightly higher, with rates around $120 per night. However, given its location and quality of services, it is a great value for the money. If you book through Booking.com, you can take advantage of early bird discounts and membership points.

Experience:

  • The staff provided excellent service and personalized recommendations based on my travel needs. I arranged for a private guide through the hotel, which was a fantastic decision. The guide took me to the Temple of Horus and other nearby attractions, offering fascinating insights into the area’s history.
  • The riverside bar at the hotel is a wonderful place to unwind. During the day, you can enjoy the view of the Nile, and in the evening, you can relax with a cup of Egyptian tea or a cocktail.

Hotel Booking Platforms:
I booked this hotel through Booking.com, which provided detailed descriptions and genuine customer reviews. The platform helped me make a confident choice, especially with its information on the hotel’s location and services.

3. Getting to Edfu Hotels from the Airport and Train Station

If you’re flying into Luxor Airport and need to get to your hotel in Edfu, here are a few recommended transportation options:

  • From Luxor Airport to Hotel:
Most hotels offer transfer services, typically by private car. I recommend confirming this service in advance when making your reservation to avoid any hassle upon arrival. If the hotel doesn’t provide a transfer, you can opt for a taxi or book a private transfer. The drive takes about 90 minutes.
  • From Edfu Train Station to Hotel:
If you arrive by train to Edfu, the station is about a 10-minute drive from the town center. You can take a taxi or even walk to your hotel. Many hotels also provide transfer services, so it’s a good idea to confirm with the hotel ahead of time.

4. Helpful Tips

  • Climate: The weather in Egypt in March is pleasant, but it can still get hot during the day. Be sure to bring sunscreen and lightweight clothing.
  • Currency: The local currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP). Most hotels and shops accept credit cards, but it’s still a good idea to carry some cash with you for smaller purchases.
  • Safety & Hygiene: Stick to reputable restaurants and shops to ensure food safety. It’s best to drink bottled water and avoid tap water.

During my trip to Edfu, I had the opportunity to stay at two fantastic hotels that provided both comfort and convenience. Each hotel offered something unique, from beautiful garden views to riverside settings. Whether you’re visiting the Temple of Horus or simply relaxing in this charming town, finding the right place to stay is essential for a memorable experience. I hope these recommendations help you enjoy your stay in Edfu, Egypt, and make your trip even more unforgettable!
